Monkey D. Luffy (モンキー・D・ルフィ Monkī Dī Rufi?), often addressed as "Straw Hat Luffy" (麦わらのルフィ Mugiwara no Rufi?), is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the One Piece franchise created by Eiichiro Oda. He is introduced as a boy who possesses rubber powers from eating a devil fruit called the Gum-Gum Fruit and superhuman strength.
